Video conferencing is more than just virtual field trips to zoos and museums (although those are great too!). Collaborative projects between classrooms are free and allow students to connect with others – across the state or around the world. In February (2011), 13 Shen elementary  classes (K-3) participated in The Mitten Project based on the book The Mitten by Jan Brett. View the short video below, then check out the following web sites or contact one of the Lead Teachers for Instructional Technology if you are interested in a collaborative video project.

  • TWICE (Two-Way Interactive Connections in Education) – must create an account to browse
  • CILC (Center for Interactive Learning & Collaboaration)
